Too Hot for a Listening Appointment?

Nah, not in the least.  The old farmhouse here is old yet the AC unit is minty fresh, and oh so cold. The air vents are fairly quiet, yet for some that have bat ears, I drop the temp way down and then turn it off, so you'll be listening in fairly dead quiet, except for me breathing, or a chirping bird outside. I can't do much about either. Well, I can go upstairs and leave you to it for a while, which is fine. You need to relax and know your next purchase intimately. As for the birds, those I encourage with plantings and trying to keep my domain (non-farmed fields) as green as possible, so I think you'll be okay with them. I have had one nice chap bring his binoculars and we went out and about for a few sightings - a few herons by the pond, kestrels and hawks high in the sky, and many barn swallows swooping in and out. For those of you interested I have blue birds in the spring, and also orioles, and many hummingbirds during the summer months.  Quite a plethora of fowl, I'd say.
And speaking of high in the sky, I am delighted to have finally figured out how to get the best out of the DeVore O/96's.
I've always liked them, yet I kept going back to the 93's. I thought, well, maybe it was just a room thing here. Better fit, you know.  Until, that moment when you do something that says, Eureka! he's got it! When the planets align, when the music explodes from the system.  Ah, it's a glorious thing.  Those two Orangutan models are unquestionably some of the best speakers out there, and topple many higher priced speakers off their spikes.  Schedule an appointment now, you'll be glad you did.  And bring some records to clean.  Just a few, mind you - unless you're bringing me a check for some Orangutans. See you soon.....

Indispensable- the KLAudio Record Cleaner

That's the only way I can view this record cleaner anymore.  It has made my record collection even more valuable to me. It has made quite an impression on anyone who's cleaned a record here, by bringing out details that were blurred or buried before.  The machine has performed flawlessly since I first plugged it in months ago.  The ease of it has kept me from being lazy and not cleaning, like I often got with the VPI 16.5 cleaner. Speaking of, as nice of a machine as it is, the VPI leaves residue on a record, and if you don't believe me come clean your VPI'd record on the KLAudio machine, and you'll hear the difference.  I'm quite pleased with the amount of folks who have put their money into this machine instead of less fundamental hifi.  Come have a listen, then a cleaning, then another listen. YOU'LL be ordering one next!

The Lp getting cleaned is a YepRoc reissue of a staff fav, Robyn Hitchcock's Eye. At first I thought the original much sweeter and the reissue not worth the money......until I ran it thru the KL. Heavens, it's like master tape! It's a very, very satisfying feeling when your money spent yields such results.

Don't Blink!

or you'll miss the setup of this great little streaming device from Arcam, the Arcam rBlink.  In less than a minute it was out of the box, cables attached, Bluetooth activated, and streaming music that was on my iPhone.  Super little streamer!  Easy peasy, and I love it.

This is what I call Sam Tellig fun! I miss Sam no longer writing for Stereophile. He would love this little guy.
I've been running thru the house plugging this into whatever system I have set up.  It's sheer delight.  I've downloaded 10 new classical and 15 various music apps that have once again opened my world to new music.  I know, it's a digital device, yet it sounds like great Naim digital, with sweetener added, and I've jotted down 22  LP and 16 cd titles to add to  my wish list.  So useful is as useful does, and at $249 I could see this in my stockings this upcoming holiday season. Yes, only 6 months away.
